Abbott now solid for FSU

Atlanta Westlake three-star offensive tackle Courtney Abbott has been committed to Florida State for quite some time, but he always insisted that he was going to take other official visits and be sure about his decision. However, it looks like there has been a change in plans.
“Well, I just heard that Lance Thomas has left LSU,” Abbott, who is 6-foot-9 and 335 pounds, said.

“So, I’m not going to take my visit there now. I’m also not tripping to Florida now because I don’t want to. I guess, I’m not going to taking any other trips after all. I might take a trip to Clemson next weekend, but the more I think about it, the more I don’t think I am.”
Abbott said there are a number of reasons why he’s probably not taking other trips. The most important reason is that he has a great relationship with the Florida State coaches.
“The Florida State coaches actually care about me like no other coaches do,” Abbott said. “They’re the only school that has ever asked me about my grades, talked to me about academics and told me about what I need to get done to make the transition easier to college. I’m also a big fan of Bobby Bowden.
“He visited with me before Christmas. It was amazing. Here was the coach with the most wins in NCAA football history sitting in my living room. It was like meeting Michael Jordan. He was such an honest man, and he talked to me about how hectic things can be but he knows that Florida State is the right place for me.”
Abbott said he’s mainly focused on lifting weights and keeping his attention focused on the books. After looking like he would be a Division I recruit in basketball for a while, Abbott decided to not play hoops in his senior season.
