A wild 24 hours for WR Cayden Lee

After playing in only four games as a freshman at Hillgrove High in Powder Springs, Ga. due to a collarbone injury, Cayden Lee knew his coming out party would have to wait for this spring.

Well, it didn't take that long.

On February 23, still on the back-end of the winter season, the 2023 playmaker learned of news that caused him and his family to pull off the side of the road.

It is a moment he will never forget.

"I was riding back from a 7-on-7 tournament in Myrtle Beach and I got a text saying Duke had offered me," said Lee. "I didn't believe it. We pulled off the road road to a gas station, I called some people, found out it was real, and it was just crazy.

"I couldn't believe it was happening. It was hard to take it in and believe I just got my first offer while driving the rest of the way home."

He didn't have to wait long for offers two and three.

"While I was at school the next day, I added offers from Auburn and Tennessee. In less than 24 hours, I had my first three offers.

"It was just a crazy period of time. I couldn't even believe what was happening. I never thought my first offers would come from schools that big."

Trips to Duke and Tennessee were likely this spring, and they still could happen, but with visits halted by the NCAA right now due to the coronavirus, Lee is not sure what's next.

He was able to get a visit in to Auburn before things were shutdown.

"I visited Auburn for a little bit after they offered and I had a good time. It was a great experience for me. All the coaches knew who I was, they are showed some love to me and I really liked it there.

"It was open there and it really felt like a family instead of a business at Auburn, so I really liked that. I definitely plan to get back this summer."

Lee grew up a fan of Auburn's biggest rival, Alabama, due to having family in the Yellowhammer State, but he is open to all schools now.

The recruiting process has just started and this is what he has been working for.

"These offers just motivate me to work harder," said Lee. "It showed me that hard work does pay off and it is not just for nothing.

"I am really excited on what is next. It is going to be a very exciting process and I can't wait to talk to new coaches, see what new schools show interest and just what is out there for me next."

It was a blur just over a month ago when three offers came in one after another. Lee didn't expect it to happen like that, but in a humble way, he knew his time was coming.

"I am not going to say I was surprised when I got these offers because I knew the way I work was going to pay off. But, when that first offer came, we had to pull off the road and really take it in.

"Then two more the next day. I honestly didn't see it happening like that, but I have been working hard for this since seventh grade, so I wasn't shocked.

"It is all just a blessing for me right now and I am going to keep working for more"
