A sleeper DL emerges in New Orleans

One of Louisiana's rising prospects has been getting
heavy attention from a top program on the West Coast.

"Stanford made a visit to our school about two weeks
ago," said New Orleans Holy Cross defensive lineman
Nick Frank. "They couldn't talk to me at the time, but they
talked to my coach for a long time and watched some of my film. After that,
they told us they were really interested, that they really needed some
defensive linemen, and may be offering sometime soon. They told me to be
patient and hopefully it would work out."
Frank (6-2, 245, 4.7, 360 bench, 550 squat) combines
good physical tools and a frame to project at either defensive end or
defensive tackle with superb academics. He's got a weighted 4.45 GPA and has
scored a 28 on the ACT.
That helps make Stanford a potential nice fit.
"Oh, I'm extremely interested in them," Frank said.
"That's my No. 1 school right now. It's a nice Pac-10 program with great
academics. I like everything about it."
He's also receiving regular calls and mail from
Northwestern, Yale, Princeton, Tulane, Louisiana Tech and McNeese State.
"Tulane was real interested for a long time, and I
liked them, but I haven't heard back from them since last month," he said.
"I'm not sure where I stand with them."
As a junior, Frank recorded 50 tackles, 11 sacks,
four forced fumbles and one interception to earn Class 5A all-district
honors. Through the first five games of his senior season, he's tallied 40
tackles, nine sacks and two forced fumbles.
"I'm having a great year so far, and the team is
undefeated," he said. "I've had a lot of sacks so far. If I get one-on-one,
I'm pretty hard to keep from the quarterback. But teams have started
double-teaming me a lot more lately."
