Junior receiver Tony Whitehead of Cottondale (Ala.) Paul Bryant has been stuck on one offer for a couple of months, but that may be about to change.
"I just got off the phone with a coach from Ole Miss -- Coach [Grant] Heard," Whitehead told Rivals.com on Tuesday. "He told me they want to offer me. I asked him how interested they are, and he said they wanted to offer. He said that's why they've been trying to get me down there. They've been trying to get me there for the past three weeks. I've just been booked up."
Whitehead plans to make trip No. 1 to Oxford soon.

"I'm going next weekend," he said. "It feels good, them having high interest in me. It makes me want to work harder and get stronger."
If Ole Miss offers, that could make things interesting. The 6-feet-2, 205-pound Whitehead's only other offer to date is from the Rebels' archrival, Mississippi State. The Bulldogs also are the team at the top of his list.
"I like them a lot," Whitehead said of Mississippi State. "I have high interest in them. I think I fit in well there. I like their fan base, and I like their coaching staff. I have a real good relationship with them."
Whitehead, who recorded 51 catches for 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns last season, described his interest in Ole Miss as "medium." He said his visit will be key.
"It will be very important," Whitehead said. "I've got to get there and see how everything goes. I want to see how good I would fit in, and see how they run their offense. And also, I want to build a relationship with their coaches. I watched their video. I'm impressed. They've got a whole new staff. They're trying to get things going over there."
According to Whitehead, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss have told him they will watch him practice this spring. He also is hearing some from Vanderbilt.
