A good start for junior linebacker

Jake Holland is a linebacker prospect in the Class of 2010. n Holland, 6-1.5 and 215 pounds, plays for Pelham (Ala.) High School. So far this season they are 2-0. Last week they beat Hoover (Ala.) Spain Park 21-15. In their two wins Holland has 32 tackles.

"My parents have worked very hard to teach us character and that there is no substitute for hard work. My dad coached my brother Wes (now at the Navy) and I all the way up and he taught us about life using football as the way to do that. I try to model everything I do after my older brother, Wes. He set a great example for me."
Holland doesn't have any scholarship offers at this time but there are a handful of teams that are recruiting him.
"I like Clemson, UAB, Boston College, Duke, Wake Forest, and Vandy.
"I went to the Clemson camp. I really like their football team, the coaches are good guys, and I like campus. Everything was nice.
"I like the same things about UAB. I went to their camp too. I have a couple connections there and I know their coaches.
"BC, Duke, Wake, and Vandy are schools I like but I don't know them well.
"I grew up an Alabama fan and I have just gotten a few letters. Right now I am not worried about recruiting. I just want to play this season and then get focused on recruiting. I would love to try and see some places this spring."
In week one of the college season Holland attend the UAB/Tulsa game.
