A big offer for South Carolina athlete

Jerrell Priester is one happy young man. Today, he received some big news when Notre Dame extended him a scholarship offer. Priester, 5-10 and 170 pounds, is from Allendale (S.C.) Fairfax High School.
"They offered earlier today while I was track practice," Priester said. "My coach pulled me aside and said Notre Dame had offered. I had to call them and they said it would be official when I get it in the mail. I am real excited and I feel like a lot is off my chest.

"I love the tradition of the team and program. The academics are great and if something were to happen to me (on the football field) and I get a degree from Notre Dame then I could get a job anywhere.
"Notre Dame offered me as an athlete. I can play corner, wide receiver or running back. I play where ever I am needed."
Notre Dame is his second offer. South Carolina State offered a month or so ago.
"I think right now Notre Dame and Vanderbilt are showing the most interest in me, although Vandy hasn't offered yet. They could play close. Clemson is showing me a little interest and South Carolina is not showing me much at all.
"Early playing time is a factor. I don't want anything given to me and I know I will have to earn my position, I want to go somewhere where I am wanted and loved and a place where I can get a great education. I also want to feel comfortable."
Last season as a junior Priester rushed (99 carries) for 1,194 yards, 12 touchdowns and averaged 11.5 yards per carry. Defensively he had 50 tackles, two interceptions and one sack.
"I do a little bit of everything and my game is based on speed. I may have a small frame but I am tough and physical."
