One of the hottest players in the state of Ohio this month is Lakota East's Jarrett LaRubbio. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound offensive lineman just added an offer from Western Michigan on Wednesday to bring his total to 11 offers.
"It is really exciting to just get offered by one school," LaRubbio said. "Then, to get offered by more than one is humbling. I appreciate each one I get. I am trying to research all the schools that are showing interest, and trying to get to as many schools as possible."
One trip LaRubbio is planning is to see a school that just came through with an offer last week. Arizona State's campus is a long way from his Cincinnati-area home, but a visit there is in the process of being scheduled.
"I have been talking to them for probably a couple months and got to know the coaches," LaRubbio said. "I know I will be down there for one of their spring practices.
"If there are some other schools I am interested in out West I will probably take a look at them during that time. I just got in contact with UCLA, and they are going to check out my film. I've been doing research on them, and they are a great school. A school like that I might check out."
Shortly before the Arizona State offer came through, LaRubbio landed an offer from Nebraska. The Cornhuskers are a program he has some familiarity with.
"I was really excited because they have great tradition there and everyone knows about Nebraska," LaRubbio said. "It is the Big Ten, and that is great football. I think they want me to come down, because it is farther away, whenever the time is best for me. They are a great school and I'd love to check them out."
Other programs that have offered include Duke, Kentucky and Pittsburgh, and LaRubbio continues to draw new interest.
"Michigan came in and Ohio State has come into my school," LaRubbio said. "They have picked up the interest a lot, and I am going to try to get out there for their spring ball."
