90-Second Analysis: Jalen Mayden to Mississippi State

Four-star dual-threat quarterback Jalen Mayden announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Tuesday night following his spring football game. He now becomes the second-highest ranked player in the Bulldogs 2018 class, but is currently the top-ranked quarterback in Texas.

Mayden has been well-known for his eye-popping statistical totals in football games and is considered one of the more dynamic offensive players in the class. Bulldogs fans could easily draw comparisons to recently-departed quarterback Dak Prescott, and should consider Mayden a strong fit with the program's offensive identity.

In 2017, Mississippi State signed four-star quarterback Keytaon Thompson, but there isn't much on the current roster at the position beyond him, so Mayden should be given a look heading into the 2018 season. Earlier this spring, he released a Top 5 that included the Bulldogs along with Baylor, Louisville, Nebraska and Tennessee, with the Bears seeming the other favorite to compete for his commitment.

Mayden was also a standout passer at the Rivals Three Stripe Camp presented by Adidas in early April.
