5-Star LB continues to look around

Garden City (Kan.) Community College linebacker Derrick Pope was committed to Alabama but now he is glad he's looking around.
"I was committed," Pope said. "I decided I didn't want to rush into a decision and look around a little bit. I am still looking at Alabama, but I'm not limiting myself."

Pope, a five-star prospect, is considered one of the top linebackers in the junior college ranks this year. He continues to lead the Garden City team in tackles and sacks. "I have 73 tackles so far in five games and I've got six quarterback sacks."
Pope has not set any official visits but has a couple schools near the top of his list. "I am really liking Arkansas and Nebraska. Arkansas has a good program. I could go right in there and find a spot to play. The same is true with Nebraska. The Huskers lack talent at the strong safety spot. They are recruiting me at that spot to come in and play."
While Arkansas and Nebraska are at the top of the list they aren't the only schools being looked at. "I am really watching Alabama, Kansas State, Michigan State and Oklahoma too. I don't want to eliminate anyone right now."
