Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco defensive end Darius Hamilton has been the subject of numerous recruiting discussions and rumors since Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano bolted for the NFL. Now, on the day he is set to announce his decision, it appears it could be a two-team race for his services according to his coach.
"I think it's between Rutgers and Miami," said Bosco head coach Greg Toal moments ago. "I really don't know which one he's going to choose. For the longest time it was going to be Rutgers I feel, but with the coaching situation and the visit he had to Miami, I really don't know."
Hamilton, a 6-foot-4, 245-pounder who is ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the country, will announce his decision on the MSG Network, a local cable outlet that covers Bosco football. The choice to announce on MSG has many expecting good news for Rutgers.
"I don't know if that's a factor, I know the Miami trip gave him a lot to think about," said Toal. "He apparently really liked it down there. We'll all know tonight I guess and he will sign tomorrow."
Hamilton also took official visits to Cal and Florida and it is especially surprising that the Gators don't appear to be in the mix. Hamilton has not been available for comment and there could still be a Florida hat on the table tonight when he announces, but according to his coach this appears to be a two-team race.
