4-star WR strong with Canes

Class of 2016 four-star receiver Sam Bruce of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas committed to Miami July 8 and is still enjoying the benefits of choosing to stay close to home.
"It's been great," the 5-foot-8, 178-pound Bruce said. "The family base here just crazy. I love all the fans and ever since I've committed I've gotten a lot of love, so I'm just glad I'm going to stay home and play for my city."

Bruce said he hasn't heard from any schools since committing other than Miami.
"I call them every week to talk and I'm very strong with Miami," he said. "And it looks like I'm not changing."
When Bruce talks with the coaching staff about how he'll fit in to the offense and the chance of playing time, he likes what he hears.
"I'll come in and hopefully, gosh willing, take over the slot position," he said. "Of course I have to come in and work for my position and that's what I plan on going in and doing. It's going to be a great time."
Bruce hopes to be a regular at Hurricanes games this season and said he'll definitely be at Miami's game against Florida State.
"That's pretty much all I've got planned right now," he said.
