Miles Battle was just in New Orleans last weekend for the Rivals Three Stripe Camp presented by Adidas, but will be back in Louisiana again this weekend.

On March 2, Battle received a big offer from LSU and will be in Baton Rouge for the Tigers national junior day event.

The visit this weekend is part of what’s quickly turning into a very active offseason for Battle, who also visited TCU earlier in March, and is working out the details for visits to Oregon, Stanford, and Wisconsin in the coming months.

The offers are continuing to roll in, too. This week he picked up another offer from California, but even as he’s now approaching the 30-offer plateau, Battle still isn’t in a hurry to start making cuts in the near future.

“I’m just going to keep letting it ride for now,” he said. “But I might cut down the list sometime this summer.”

IN HIS WORDS

On his new LSU offer

“It was crazy when I got it and I told my parents and they were really excited,” he said. “I went for a game last season and it was a lot of fun. I am just looking to see how they are going to be running the new offense when I get up there with Coach (Matt) Canada and Coach (Mickey) Joseph – how they’re going to incorporate their receivers this year.”

“They told me that they think I can play there in their system,” he said. “So I’m just going to get down there and see what’s going on.”

Recapping his recent TCU visit

“That was a great visit, that’s when I got my offer and talked to Coach (Gary) Patterson,” he said. “It was cool taking a look at what they do with the receivers in the passing game and all the ways they look to get the ball out to their guys.”

“I love what they do passing the ball,” he said. “Also the way that their players come back from the NFL and come help the coaches and the family atmosphere they have there is pretty cool too, I like that a lot.”

On where things stand with his first offered team, Michigan State

“They’re still in the picture because they were the first to offer me, so that’s a big thing,” he said. “Coach (Terrence) Samuel has still be checking up on me and they’re still in the mix.”

RIVALS REACTION

The interest from such a wide range of programs isn’t surprising for Battle, a long, rangy receiver that wins his battles downfield at a very high percentage.

Although Battle said that he’s not looking to whittle down his offer list anytime soon, it seems clear that his campus visits are helping him get a better idea of how to differentiate programs. Battle would have been a textbook receiver recruit for LSU during the Les Miles era, if Canada and company can show a new look that appeals to him, they could position themselves nicely with Battle going forward.
