THE LATEST

Class of 2020 four-star Tennessee linebacker Devyn Curtis came into the camp season looking to evaluate the schools on his list and perhaps add a few more offers before focusing in on making a decision. Now that he's accomplished those goals, he's cut his options to six finalists. Rivals.com caught up with Curtis to break down his new list, which includes Kentucky, Mississippi State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Virginia and Vanderbilt.

IN HIS WORDS

Kentucky: "I really liked the environment and they are improving every season as well as producing really good linebackers yearly. I was told they plan on using me the same way that they use Kash Daniel and I like that comparison."

Mississippi State: "Another great and competitive environment within practice. I went there and camped at the beginning of the month and I really enjoyed the visit. They plan on playing me at inside linebacker and they have a couple of really good guys there now that will be going on to the NFL."

Nebraska: It's a historical program with one of the best fan bases in the country. I haven't been there yet but I plan on going for a visit during the fall. They just signed Jackson Hannah out of Nashville last year so they are trying to keep that pipeline going. They see me playing inside and they like my athleticism and how I would fit into their defense."

South Carolina: "It's an electric atmosphere up there and they have some of the best facilities in the country. I'm going there this week for a visit and to play 7-on-7. They like my versatility and plan on using me inside the box and moving out to cover in some formations."

Vanderbilt: "It's the hometown school and they have great academics and they produce great linebackers. I'm planning on going there for a visit again and camping with them soon. They plan on using me as the wide side inside linebacker."

Virginia: "It's a great academic school and a really improving team on the field. I'm planning getting up there for a visit sometime soon. We haven't talked much about the plan yet, but obviously they like me at linebacker and how I can come up and make plays."

Official visits before dead period: "I'm still working on it. I know there's not much time left so hopefully I can get one or two in."

Decision timeline: "Hopefully I'll be ready to make a decision soon, but if not my goal is by September 1."
