Four-star Ryan Jones took his first and only visit to Oklahoma this weekend and decided it was the place for him. The Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek stand out will be playing safety instead of wide receiver in Norman.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"I picked Oklahoma because of the great fanbase and the tradition at Oklahoma is tremendous," Jones said. "They know how to recruit good football players and how to win games. They have a chance to go to the National Championship almost every year. It's a great opportunity when it comes to school and football.

"It's great to know that I'll have two guys there that I know," he said. "Austin Kendall and Jeremiah Hall are both from Charlotte and I played 7-on-7 with Jeremiah.

"I know the huge stage at Oklahoma and I feel like I'm ready for it," said Jones. "I'm ready to come in and get down to business.

"I'll be playing safety there," he said. "A lot of their defensive backs are leaving so that gives me an opportunity to step in and get to play early. I think my ball skills will really help me in that position."

RIVALS' REACTION

Jones is a big time athlete with great range and ball skills. He isn't brand new to playing safety and his ability to track the ball in the air should prove useful in the Sooners' secondary. Jones has some developing to do and should contribute a lot throughout his career as long as he fits in at Oklahoma.
