4-star receiver Snelson still a Cane

Last week, class of 2016 four-star receiver and Miami commit Dredrick Snelson of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage told Rivals.com he had a big announcement to make regarding his recruitment. He said that announcement was supposed to take place that weekend, however that announcement never came.
"It was something I wanted to do but I realized I have a lot of time," the 5-foot-11, 194-pound Snelson said. "I talked to my mom about it - she's my biggest support system - and she said to wait and see what happens. So I'm just going to let things play out and when I'm ready to close or open my process back up I'll do that."

In addition to his interview with Rivals.com, he also tweeted the following last Wednesday: "News coming soon about my recruiting process." Many took that as a sign he was de-committing from Miami, possibly to follow one of his teammates to the next level. Tarvarus McFadden recently committed to Florida State and Torrance Gibson committed to Ohio State last week.
"It was something I was thinking about," Snelson said. "But if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen."
When Snelson tweeted the possibility of a recruiting announcement, some on twitter - including Canes fans - expressed some not-so-nice thoughts toward Snelson.
"They're fans, so I can't dictate anything they say or think," he said. "They're fans for a reason. They don't play football. It's my decision to live with for the rest of my life, so they can love me or hate me."
Snelson still keeps in regular contact with the Canes coaching staff.
"I talked to them (Tuesday)," Snelson said. "They were just asking how everything was going, how I'm doing and about the game Saturday."
Snelson said he hopes to visit Georgia for the Bulldogs final home game of the season on Nov. 29 against Georgia Tech. Snelson's former teammates Sony Michel and Isaiah McKenzie are both enjoying playing time as true freshman for the Bulldogs.
Snelson maintained that despite the buzz he generated last week, he's still a Cane.
"I'm committed to Miami," he said. "I'm as committed to The U as I was before."
