The Latest: Mikel Jones offer list reads like a who's who of college football power players. After collecting offers for the better part of a year, Jones is ready to start taking a closer at programs in an effort to make a commitment by the end of the summer. Jones plans on hitting the road this weekend to start his summer trips, with LSU first up on the schedule. Rivals.com caught up with Jones over the weekend to talk about his upcoming plans and breakdown the schools currently recruiting him the hardest.

In His Words: "I have to say LSU is talking to me the most. I have been talking to Auburn quite a bit and Kentucky also does a good job of keeping up with me. I want to get out and visit them soon"

Decision timeline: "I want to make a decision in the next month. I want to go into my senior year with any distractions."

LSU

"I’ve been talking to Coach Aranda and he told me they have one linebacker committed right now. I will be on campus next weekend for their camp. They want to see me work out in person. I’ve been there twice for visits. I like their campus a lot. They think I can rush the edge and play linebacker and cover. When I came to IMG I learned how to cover better and they said they like that aspect of my game. My versatility is what really makes me a good fit for their defense"

Auburn

"They want me to rush the edge. They’re always talking to me about being a versatile guy who and do both. They had a guy before, Jeffrey Holland, who was a linebacker in high school and a really good pass rusher for them. Coach Williams, their linebackers coach, is a cool guy, he’s young and knows how to relate to us. I visited in February and I liked the campus. I’m not sure when I’ll be going back but I want to be back on campus soon."

Kentucky

“I haven’t visited Kentucky yet this summer. I was planning on going to visit next month but I didn’t realize there is a dead period in July. So I have to look at my schedule and figure it out. I might have to wait until the fall to take a visit. But the coaches there have been showing me love and they are an SEC school so I want to get up there and see everything."
