Three-star Burnet, Texas, wide receiver Sterling Galban opened his recruitment by picking up offers from Columbia, Cornell, and Dartmouth, but one look at the text messages in his phone shows that things aren’t likely to stay that way.

Tulsa and Bowling Green seem primed to offer this spring. Colorado State, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, North Texas, and Southern Miss don’t seem to far behind. A little further down the list are some exchanges with Florida assistants.

“I’m talking to a lot of schools right now,” he said. “I feel like at any moment they could pull the trigger, I just think they’re waiting to see what happens, like if a big school offers they will all know ‘OK, he’s a big deal,” and they’ll offer too.”

Perhaps one closest to making good on an offer is Iowa State, who is no stranger to finding talent in Texas. Galban said that he thinks the Cyclones are at about 85-percent when it comes to how close they are to offering him.

“The love me, they feel like I’m one of the best dudes they’ve been recruiting so far,” “They feel like I can play at their level right now and I can fit in the offense well too – they just like me.”

Matt Campbell and company may not have hit on every recruit they’ve come after in Texas, but word has come back to Galban that a trip to Ames is one worth taking. Of course, current Cyclones players have made their pitch for him to come for a visit as well.

“[Baylor commit] Josh Fleeks has been my best friend since fourth grade has been talking to me about them a little bit,” he said. “I know Josh Johnson that’s up there right now, and they just love it up there. They said that if I can make it up to visit campus I would like it too.”

Galban was one of the top offensive performers at the Rivals Three Stripe Camp presented by Adidas in New Orleans last weekend and finished his junior season with 70 catches for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns.
