3-star Tennessee RB Jeremy Banks zeroing in on decision

The Latest: It's been quite an offseason for three-star Cordova, Tenn. running back Jeremy Banks, who went from off the radar to 20-plus offers over the span of three months. And while everything came together rather quickly, Banks has zeroed in on a few programs as he gets closer to announcing a decision. Rivals.com caught up with him to talk about his latest visit to Virginia Tech and his plans to make a commitment sooner rather than later.

In His Words: "My visit to Virginia Tech was great. It was a great atmosphere, great coaches, nice facilities. It went pretty good. I brought my family with me on the trip and they were really impressed with it, too."

On the camp experience: "It was good. Their running backs coach is pretty laid back but it was good to get on the field with him and see how he coaches."

On his place on Virginia Tech's board: "We've talked about that. We've talked about everything. I will be making my decision very soon but it’s a tough choice, but I will be making my commitment very soon. It might be Virginia Tech or it might be somewhere else."

On Wyoming: "I plan on visiting very soon. I want to go up there for an official visit. I know that they run the ball hard, they pound the rock. I reached out to them and they said I’m exactly the type of back that they’re looking for because I remind them of their last running back. They said they love downhill runners and a guy that can make a man miss and that’s what I can do. I’ve been dong a lot of research because I’m chasing my dream and I’m trying to go get it."

On Utah: "I love Utah. I have a great relationship with the running backs coach. We shoot texts back and forth and talk on the phone almost every day. I’m ready to get up there and see how it is. I’m going to take an official visit there in the fall. I looked up some research on them and they just had a guy get drafted and they’ve told me I can be the next guy that they put in the league. That means a lot because that’s the goal for me."

On committing to a school without visiting: "It’s a possibility but you know I would have to talk with the coach over the phone and let them know I’m serious about it and let them know I’m coming and then coming up on an official."

On a decision: "I will be committing somewhere very soon to focus on our season and getting ready for my senior season and not letting recruiting get in my way."

Rivals Reaction: Virginia Tech already has one back in the fold and the fact that Banks left campus without committing could be a good sign for schools like Wyoming and Utah. While he's planning on committing soon, it wouldn't be a shock to see Banks take several official visits in the fall.
