3-star Tennessee OL Briason Mays talks Marshall, upcoming visits

The Latest: Class of 2018 3-star offensive lineman Briason Mays plays a little bit off the beaten path in Bolivar, Tenn. so it has taken schools a little bit longer to find him. But now that he’s on the radar the offers are starting to roll in, with programs like Marshall, Middle Tennessee and Navy offering in recent weeks. Rivals.com caught up with Mays at the recent New Orleans Rivals 3-Stripe Camp presented by adidas to get the latest on his recruitment.

In His Words: “Our coach does a great job getting us out there but it’s not like we are a place where coaches are just going to stop by so that doesn’t help but now coaches are starting to come in and it’s really exciting.”

On Marshall: “They’ve been talking to me for a little while and then they offered me out of the blue kind of so it wasn’t expected but it was appreciated. I was definitely happy. They said they really like me a lot and when they put on the film their offensive line coach knew I was an offer guy. They were just waiting to get the approval from the offensive coordinator and once he did it was a pretty good day. I know the basic stuff about them, the scheme they run and stuff like that but not too much. I want to get up there for a visit soon and I’m going to go sometime soon in the next couple of weeks.”

On which school might offer next: “Wake Forest has been sending me a lot of stuff in recent weeks on twitter and in the mail and Duke has been talking to me a lot too. It would be a really big deal. Especially from Wake Forest and Duke because they’re really big academic schools."

Rivals Reaction: Mays recruitment is just getting started but it’s clear Marshall caught his attention and his plans to get to campus on his own dime are another good sign for the Herd. If other schools enter the mix soon it will be interesting to see how things develop.
