3-Star RB Kaegun Williams recaps west coast trip, talks dream offer

California has been one of a few aggressive out-of-state schools that have offered many Texas recruits this spring, but Kaegun Williams is one of the few recruits that has taken a visit out to Berkeley to see it for himself.

Williams took a mid-June trip out to the west coast to see Berkeley as well as Stanford and enjoyed catching the vibe while trying to feel out both schools.

“It was good to get out there and see some of the differences between Texas and California football,” he said.

“The atmosphere there looks like it gets crazy,” he said. “Look at the stadium and judging how it’s built, you can just tell it’s going to get loud. And the coaches there are real chill, so that’s really cool to me.”

“It was just a beautiful environment,” he said. “You can’t beat the weather; it doesn’t get over 75-degrees.”

On Stanford

“Stanford must be one of the most-liked campuses because it’s like going to a resort,” he said. “You can tell how well it’s kept up out there and it’s very high-tech.”

Rivals Reaction: Williams was hoping to leave California with a Stanford offer, but will now turn his attention towards trying to impress Texas coaches with a likely appearance at the upcoming Under the Lights camp on July 23. With or without an offer from the Cardinal staff, Williams likely would have been in in Austin that weekend anyway, as he said he considers Texas to be a dream offer.

“I told (Cedar Hill Head Coach Joey) McGuire that if I didn’t get an offer from Stanford I was trying for Texas next,” he said. “I was at their game last year versus Rice, and they’re just cool -- that’s my dream school.”

Williams also holds offers from Tennessee, Colorado and several others, but he’s well-suited to have a big season for a stacked Cedar Hill team. He’s clearly hoping to grab the attention of Longhorns coaches, so much so that he’s willing to hold off making any firm plans for himself based on their potential interest in him is.

“I kind of wanted to commit before the season,” he said. “But now I might wait a few more weeks.”
