Three-star San Antonio quarterback Tyler Vitt is still waiting on his first offer but he’s not without a few prospects that he thinks could be close.

Vitt just visited nearby Rice last weekend and was at Baylor before that in mid-February. North Texas has also been a program that has been in contact with him, but it seems as though Louisiana Tech is the front-runner as the team most likely to make the first move.

“I have a good contact there, so they have been talking to me pretty regularly,” he said. “Their offense is so explosive, you know? It’s a quarterback’s dream throwing the ball around there a lot. I watched their bowl game and just loved what they did - just put up 60, 70 points on Western Kentucky and it was a great game.”

Mean Green quarterbacks coach Graham Harrell is the one assistant that Vitt mentioned by name as having a significant relationship with. North Texas has been active this spring on the recruiting front and is traditionally a program that needs to offer a couple of players deep at most positions.

“I think that’s a great program; they’re definitely building and on the rise,” he said. “I think Coach Graham Harrell coaches his guys with a lot of energy, so it would be great to go there as well.”

When it comes to the Bears, perhaps it’s not a surprise his visit drew rave-reviews. Relative to what the other schools discussed, it seemed to Vitt as though there was a little extra to take in. As the program continues to build under new head coach Matt Rhule, so too is the staff's familiarity with Vitt.

“I thought it was great, the facilities were great,” he said. “New Coach, Glenn Thomas from Temple, I just loved when he talked about working with Matt Ryan. He had a lot of good things to say.”

With Baylor - as with the others - it seems as though the separation between Vitt and those potential offers is just a matter of showing his development this spring and continuing to strengthen the bonds he has with the coaches recruiting him.

“I think (Baylor) is just getting setup with the new quarterbacks coach and getting him in there,” he said. “Not sure if we’re close to an offer, but I’m definitely going to keep talking with them and building that relationship.”
