3-star Louisiana DB Curry Benn still high on Southern Miss

The Latest: Class of 2018 three-star defensive back Curry Benn has a long list of scholarship offers, but most believe that Southern Miss is the team to beat in his recruitment. Rivals.com recently caught up with Benn to talk about the Eagles and his plans to get back to Hattiesburg later this summer.

In His Words: “I like Southern Miss because that's one of the colleges I've visited the most. It's not too far fro home, they have my major and I'm comfortable with their coaching staff. I have a relationship with almost all the coaches not just one. As of now I think it's the best fit for me. They have enough seniors leaving for me to come in and make an early impact. So with all those things accounted for I believe it's the best fit for me as of now.”

On his impressions of campus: “The last time I was up there was for their junior day back in April. I was feeling a lot of love when I was sup there. I saw a lot. Their weight room was nice. They've added some new things to their stadium that's nice. Their locker room has some new features that are nice too and when I get up there everything should still be the same so it will still be looking nice.”

On his next visit: “I'll be up there July 21. I'm going to guy there and camp.”

On other visits: “I went to Tulane recently and I want to camp a lot of other places but as of right now it's tough with my team and stuff I have to do with them so we’ll see how it works out.”

Rivals Reaction: Southern Miss has been the established favorite for a while and Benn might be on commit watch when he visits again next month. Other offers are still likely to roll in as the process moves along so it will be important for Southern Miss to make a good impression on that trip.
