3-Star defensive athlete Devodrick Johnson releases Top 10

Three-star athlete Devodrick Johnson released his top-ten on Thursday. The list had few surprises, but Johnson does hold nearly 20 offers total. He considers himself a defensive back and has primarily been recruited as such, but could potentially could size-up and grow into a weakside linebacker. Johnson's versatility and athleticism has been what's piqued coaches interests this spring as his recruitment has blown up over the past few months.

The lead dogs: Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, TCU and Texas Tech are the likely top tier in the group for now. Johnson has recently camped at TCU, meanwhile Oklahoma State and Texas Tech have been two of the earliest teams involved with his recruitment. Johnson also fits the profile of smartly-recruited, almost unheralded prospects that Texas A&M has been having success with as of late.

Teams in the hunt: Arizona, Houston, Mississippi State and Missouri all provide interesting options for Johnson, and could provide him with a quicker path to getting on the field than some of the aforementioned programs. Houston and Mississippi State figure to be the more likely teams to be a threat to the leaders.

Thanks for playing: Illinois and Cal have been very liberal in handing out offers in Texas and they didn't let Johnson go without hearing from them either. Generally speaking, Cal could be an interesting option for players like Johnson, but for now Illinois has yet to be a legitimate recruiter of Texas prospects.
