Three-star cornerback Ronnie Hoggins of Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch said his leader is Akron, but that Louisville, Marshall and TCU remain in the mix.
Akron leads because of Hoggins' relationship with Zips assistant Otis Mounds. He plans on visiting for the first time this fall.
"We have a good relationship with him," said Hoggins, who stands at 5-foot-8, 159 pounds. "The coaching staff really likes me and we get along well together. I fit in well with what they do. They play a lot of man there.
"Right now they're my leader, so the gap is pretty big."
Louisville is another team in the mix and he visited there this summer.
"I like the way they get after teams and their defensive scheme," he said. "They have nice facilities and a good school and coaching staff."
Hoggins also likes TCU because of his relationship with assistant Doug Meacham and plans on visiting in December.
"They play a 4-2-5 just like at Monarch," he said. "I like coach Meachum there."
Hoggins would like to make his decision sometime after the season.
