Erick Hallett’s recruitment is continuing to move forward this spring with an offer here and there, but if an upcoming visit to one school in particular results in another, that could change things dramatically for him going forward.

Hallett will head to South Bend, Indiana, for Notre Dame’s spring game on April 22. He said that recently, several Irish coaches have agreed that his talent is worth looking into.

“First, Coach (Mike) Elko just wanted to introduce himself because he said that he just got there,” he said. “He said that he’s looked at my film and shown it Coach (Todd) Lyght and he really liked me, so they invited me up to the spring game coming up.”

That's encouraging news for Hallett - when the defensive coordinator suggests a player to a position coach rather than the other way around. The three-star Cypress, Texas, cornerback said that conversations with Notre Dame picked up after he recently received an offer from Yale.

Nevada is currently Hallett’s only FBS offer, so it goes without saying that one from the Irish would in all likelihood put them at the front of the line. That doesn’t mean that Hallett doesn’t want to do his due diligence in getting a feel for things up there.

“I’m really just looking forward to seeing the campus and getting to know the coaches in person,” he said. “I’m just letting them see me, I’m looking forward to seeing them and what their all about.”

In the meantime, Hallet’s former Cy-Fair teammate and 2017 Notre Dame signee, Brock Wright, has already started hyping up a future with the Irish.

“He said he loves it up there,” Hallett said. “He said that it’s like a dream come true.”

RIVALS REACTION

Hallett’s offer sheet isn’t a great reflection of what he’s shown on the camp circuit this spring. Even if the interest in him is strong, the Notre Dame staff may feel like it can wait on offering him because there isn’t much to compete with at the moment. Should the Irish offer, that could shift things into high-gear for Hallett, but Notre Dame would certainly grab a foothold at the top of his recruitment.
