Baylor is continuing their red hot summer on Thursday as they have now landed yet another blue-chip prospect.
This one comes in the class of 2026 Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian School four-star quarterback Quinn Murphy.
Murphy chose the Bears over Oklahoma State, Michigan, and Arkansas, among others.
The 6-foot-3, 188 pound signal caller discussed his decision to commit now.
Not only is Baylor close to home for Murphy but the relationships and the trust factor that has been built up in Waco is very strong. The Baylor staff has prioritized Murphy and he feels they have shown more than enough to win his recruitment.
"The first day (Jake) Spavital got the job, he offered me, I think it was only like three hours after he got the job and that just showed me how important I was to them. And you know, with all this recruiting buzz going around Baylor, he's had many top quarterbacks in my class in the state and out of state try to commit to Baylor. He specifically told them, 'no we're waiting for someone else'. I've been the number one guy for a long time and I know that that's home and why not commit now."
Baylor has also said all the right things in terms of the system he is going to play in. The Bears staff has told him there will be a lot of pressure on him within the system and that is exactly what he wants to play under.
"So I've been to Baylor three times in the past two months and I visited a bunch of times before. They've told me they're gonna be running a heavy spread offense, heavy choice for us putting a lot of the pressure on the quarterback and making him make those decisions and that's exactly what I'm up for. That's what I signed up for and that's a big reason why I'm committing to their system because I love and I trust them and everything that they do through the system and I'm ready for it."
Murphy is not making this decision on his own either. He has been talking with a number of other recruits, both committed to Baylor as well as uncommitted. He is getting comfortable with the group and is ready to recruit more.
"I talked to Taz (Williams) at the junior day. I talked to Brayden Robinson and London Smith. They're both 2026 receivers, both really high on their board. I talked to the both 2026 running back commits, Davis Penn and Ryelan Morris. I'm fired up about that, two great running backs that can obviously play ball. And you know, I've talked to 2026 lineman when I was at the campus there. So, you know, when I commit, I'm going forward to build the best 2026 class out there."
