2022 DE Isaac Hamm on top four schools, 'great relationship' with Wisconsin
Despite not playing his junior season yet, Isaac Hamm trimmed his list of potential suitors from eight to a final four earlier this month. The lucky quartet of schools included, in no particular order, Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
According to the Sun Prairie (WI) defensive lineman, there were a couple reasons for doing so -- both for those now on the outside looking in, and those currently still in contention.
“I would just say first and foremost, it was just kind of a respect thing for the rest of the coaches out there who were kind of unclear where I was with recruiting," Hamm told BadgerBlitz.com on Friday afternoon. "I just kind of made it mutual and said, ‘I don't want to waste your time. I don't want to waste my time. Thank you for being interested in offering, but that's just not what I'm looking for.' I would just say first and foremost, not wasting their time, and it's a lot of time on the phone with different schools, but I don't plan on attending, regardless.
“That was just really nice to get that weight off my back as well as really clarify to those other four schools, ‘Hey, you guys have elite programs, and I'm really interested.'"
According to Hamm, his final four are "pretty" locked down and "will be going nowhere." However, he also stated that though "very unlikely," there could be a program or two potentially added. At the moment, he also said that he is consistently in contact with Wisconsin and Notre Dame, and the two are nearly equal in that regard.
