Dante Anderson does not lack for options. The class-of-2022 defensive end has more than 20 scholarship offers and more could be on the way this fall. Following a recent workout, Anderson discusses where his recruitment stands and the teams that have stayed in closest contact during the Covid19-induced dead period.
ON THE SCHOOLS IN MOST FREQUENT CONTACT THOUGHT THE DEAD PERIOD
“LSU, Florida, Michigan State and Florida State are the ones I really talk to most right now.”
ON WHICH ONE OF THE GROUP STANDS OUT MOST
“I don't really know yet. It’s close with those schools, I guess.”
ON FSU
“They want me on campus early if I end up there. They think that if I’m an early graduate, I could play early there and I like that.”
ON IF HE’S BEEN TO TALLAHASSEE
“I haven’t visited yet, but I want to when this is over. I’m going to go for sure.”
ON THE FSU COACHES
“I talk to Coach [Mike] Norvell and Coach [David Johnson] and Coach [John Papuchis] pretty much the most. It’s a lot of different coaches I talk to.”
ON WHICH FSU COACH IS EASIEST TO TALK TO
“Coach [Papuchis]. I like the relationship we have. He’s really cool and easy to talk to.”
ON LSU
“I talked to them last week actually. It’s kinda the same with them as it is with FSU, they’d want me up there early --- as an early graduate. I want to visit.”
ON A DECISION DATE
“No comment on that. It could be soon. It could not be. So no comment on that right now. It won’t be this week. I’ll tell you that much.”
RIVALS REACTION: Anderson seemed to hint that a commitment could be coming soon, but it’s unclear which school(s) are ready to accept his pledge at this early juncture. Florida, Florida State, Miami and FSU seem to be in play should a choice come in the near future, as it’s hard to see Anderson committing out of state during a global pandemic that doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon. The class-of-2022 standout has added some good weight this summer and could be in for a breakout junior season.
