CEDAR HILL, Tex. -- One of Texas’ most intriguing up-and-coming prospects is an import from the Pacific Northwest. 2020 athlete Drew Sanders came from Oregon to Colleyville, Texas, and has wasted no time in making an impact on the state’s recruiting trail, as he came into last week’s Prime 21 camp holding eight offers.

This Saturday, Sanders will be at Texas A&M for the Aggies’ final prospect camp of the summer. His visit there will be a nice finish to an offseason that included visits to Georgia and Oklahoma - both of whom he holds offers from. It’s no surprise he still has a long way to go with many of the teams involved in his recruitment but in the early going, he’s enjoyed the relationships he’s started to build like with UGA staff.

“I liked the school a lot in the first place,” he said. “They have some great coaches that are fun to be around.”

“They took me through everything,” he said. “They took me through the dorms and really showed me a lot - they spent at least five hours going through it all with me. I met Lincoln Riley in his office and I think that he’s going to do great things. He’s a really smart guy and a good coach.”

On where things stand with the Aggies

“I haven’t really talked to them a lot,” he said. “I just told them before that I would come out to a camp and try and show out. They were the first team that really noticed me when I moved down here, so that means something to me.”

RIVALS REACTION

Sanders is making the move more and more towards likely becoming a receiving tight end, although he has worked at events this spring as a quarterback as well. He said that he will be in a quarterback competition at his high school this season but as he continues to grow physically, and get more comfortable as a route-runner and pass-catcher, he’ll continue to raise his profile as a full-time receiver.
