2020 RB Ty Jordan smokes 40 time at TCU, talks Utah offer
ARLINGTON, Tex. – No other way to put it, Ty Jordan is fast.
Although he’s enjoyed an offseason where he’s picked up a number of Power Five offers, he also skipped a number of other camps and events during the spring due to track commitments. The affect that might have had on his recruitment is debatable, but at the end of June while camping at TCU, his experience was highlighted by one brief moment.
“It was good – there was a lot of competition,” he said. “I ran my best 40 time out there; 4.37.”
The fastest such time for a running back at the NFL Draft Combine this year was N.C. State’s Nyheim Hines, who ran a 4.38. The subsequent feedback from the Horned Frogs’ staff wasn’t surprising.
“They really like me and my speed, basically,” he said. “I guess they have to re-evaluate me and more before making an offer.”
Jordan also made an appearance last month for a camp at Texas A&M. He was one of a handful of select running backs at Under Armour’s Prime 21 camp last Saturday, and when the dead period ends later this month, he’ll be camping again at Mississippi State.
Meanwhile, he said that a recent offer from Utah has been one that’s impacted his recruitment. After showing out for Utes coaches at a camp at Texas Southern this summer, the relationship between the two has blossomed quickly, and he said making a trip out for a game this fall is on his wish list.
IN HIS WORDS
On Utah and his relationship with running backs coach Kiel McDonald
“That was really great,” he said. “I had a strong connection as soon as I met the coach – I met him at the Texas Southern camp – I was doing everything that he said and we had a nice little bond there. Now I talk with him every week.”
More on TCU
“TCU is a school that would fit me," he said. "Just the type of backs that they’ve got – smaller, faster backs – that’s me.”
