ALEDO, Tex. -- 2020 Rivals100 running back Jase McClellan is still committed to Oklahoma, but all indications are that the Sooners are going to have to keep him as a top priority if they hope to hold onto his commitment for the next few seasons.

His most recent offer came in mid-April from Ohio State, where he said that he is now hoping to make it up for a visit before the end of summer to participate in a prospect camp and have a look at the campus. McClellan said that when it comes to the Buckeyes, seeing how quickly fellow Texas product J.K. Dobbins found success is something that caught his eye.

“I can see myself going up there and doing the same sort of things,” he said. “I feel like I could give a big effort to the team and its running game and just make big plays.”

McClellan was last on campus at Oklahoma during its spring game weekend, and things remain positive with the Sooners, but Texas has also been after McClellan and Longhorns running backs coach Stan Drayton was on hand to watch him practice Thursday morning. He said that he is planning on making a return to Austin at some point over the summer as well.

IN HIS WORDS

More on Ohio State

“They’ve been pushing in and I’ve been communicating with them,” he said. “They’re just trying to get me up there for a visit. I have a big interest in Ohio State and they have a great program for running backs and I just want to go up there and see how it is.”

On where things stand with Oklahoma

“I’m still committed to Oklahoma and they know that I’m committed to them,” he said. “They still know they’re still at the top of my interests. I have a call setup with Coach JB [Jay Boulware] today just to chat it up. I plan on heading out there before the end of the summer.”

RIVALS REACTION

Gauging the strength of McClellan’s commitment to Oklahoma is a little difficult considering he is the type of player that just about any program would find a way to make room for in its class. He didn’t need to commit to the Sooners this early in the process, but chose to, and has made it a point to stay in regular contact with the staff. However, he did mention that as he heads into the fall, he is still keeping a list of about 15 teams that he is interested in maintaining communication with as his recruitment goes on.
