KATY – Five-star 2020 running back Zachary Evans might be the one stealing the headlines when it comes to North Shore High School’s rushing attack but offensive tackle Damieon George is the one typically paving the way for him to do so.

Naturally, as offers have been plentiful for Evans, George has found himself with a number of his own to consider. To close out the summer, he and several of his teammates made the rounds on the camp circuit to several of the programs recruiting him. He said that the common teams recruiting both him and Evans could be positioning themselves to provide a significant upgrade to their ground attacks in the 2020 class.

“We’re real close; that’s like my brother,” George said of Evans. “I could see a future where I’m blocking for him.”

For such a big guy, George can be a little light on explanations, but he did provide some pretty significant details about the schools he visited in the offseason. Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Texas A&M were all on the itinerary and George said he would like to make return visits to each as soon as possible.

IN HIS WORDS

On Alabama

“That was an exciting experience,” he said. “Once in a lifetime. They’re all about coaching out there and I just took in all the coaching that I could … They loved me, they kept telling me they loved me. Coach (Brent) Key was telling me how much he wanted me.”

On LSU

“That’s home for me,” he said. “I have family out there. I wouldn’t say they’re telling me to come out there. My granny and most of my dad’s side of the family lives out there, so I’m planning on making it out there a lot.

On Texas A&M

“I like the new staff out there,” he said. “They’re a top team too. I’ve talked with Coach (Jim) Turner and it’s like he can just relate to me. Everything I say and as to him, he can relate.”
