2019 Texas DE Marcus Stripling talks Oklahoma

The Latest: When he picked up his first scholarship offer late in the fall, Class of 2019 defensive lineman Marcus Stripling wasn’t sure how to react. After all, his school has produced just three Power Five signees in the Rivals.com era, so netting an offer from Oklahoma came as quite a surprise. Since then, Georgia and Texas A&M have also entered the mix for Stripling, who figures to have even more options before it’s all said and done. But what does it mean for the Sooners to the first school in? Rivals.com caught up with Stripling to talk Oklahoma.

In His Words: “I picked up the offer right before winter break. I talked to Coach Thibodeaux and he let me know that they wanted to be first. From where I come from I just feel really blessed to get my first offer and have it be from a school like Oklahoma. I’m truly humbled by it because it’s not easy to get recruited. I’m still learning about Oklahoma because I didn’t know a ton about them when they offered. But they want me to get to campus for a visit so they can show me everything. It was a big deal at my school when I got offered. Everyone was so happy and excited for me and I thank Oklahoma for believing in me.”

Rivals Reaction: Despite already holding three Power Five offers, Stripling is still very new to the recruiting process. That means staying in touch and getting him on campus will be key for schools going forward. Stripling recently visited Baylor and The Sooners are still working to get him to Norman sometime soon.
