2019 standout talks USF visit, plans to tour Florida, FSU

OVIDO, Fla. -- There are almost certainly more offers in store for Larry Hodges.

The class-of-2019 tight end impresses everywhere he goes and is adding size at a rapid pace. Hodges is up to 205 pounds and has retained the burst that makes him a weapon in the passing game. Still, his offer list stands as such:

Miami and USF.

That the long and (mostly) short of it … for now. Hodges will likely welcome in a host of new suitors this spring, but he’s already started making visits. Most recently, the Florida product toured the campus of UCF, the closest FBS school to his home.

“I liked it down there,” Hodges said. “I met Charlie Strong. We talked for a long time. He’s a really good guy. He gets to the point, though.”

The topic of the conversation was as much a strong recruiting pitch as it was a conversation about the recruiting road ahead.

“Coach Strong told me I was still young and to stay out of social media and out of trouble,” Hodges said. “He told me just to focus on school and on football.”

Florida, Florida State, Louisville and Ole Miss have shown interest in Hodges but have yet to make things official with scholarship offers. It hasn’t stopped him from planning visits, however.

“I’m trying to go to Florida and Florida State,” Hodges said. “I have that coming up but I don’t have set dates yet. It will be soon.”

The 6-foot-2 Hodges attends Tampa’s Jesuit High School.

RIVALS REACTION: Any attempt to project Hodges ‘decision is futile at this stage. USF if heavily interested and Miami has offered but doesn’t seem to be pushing hard at this early juncture. His recruiting picture will really start to take shape this fall.
