2019 Rivals100 QB Grant Gunnell on Nebraska visit: "I'm excited"

The Latest: Class of 2019 Rivals100 quarterback Grant Gunnell has had quite the spring. From landing offers from some of college football’s power programs to traveling countless miles for visits, things have been pretty hectic. But that doesn’t mean Gunnell is going to be slowing down anytime soon. This weekend he’ll be on hand in Lincoln, Neb. for the Cornhuskers spring game, a major visit considering his spot atop the school’s quarterback board. Rivals.com caught up with Gunnell at the recent Dallas stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas to get his thoughts on the upcoming trip.

In His Words: “I loved it when I went up there the first time so I’m excited to be going back for their spring game. I really like Coach Riley and Coach Wansdorf and I know one some other people that work there as well. It’s awesome to have those relationships.”

On his talks with Coach Riley: “The one thing he told me that I thought was awesome is that he’s trying to turn Nebraska into Quarterback University. I know he has coached several guys that are in the NFL and he said he wants to continue that tradition at Nebraska.”

On his expectations for the trip: “I went up there right after the season ended and it was fun but I want to see the fans in action. It’s the spring game so I bet it will be crazy. It’s sold out. The fan base is awesome. They don’t have pro sports teams, all they have is football Nebraska football there so this is big for them. Just seeing the on social media and how excited they are to have me is great. I have picked up a ton of followers just from Nebraska fans.

Rivals Reaction: Gunnell has been busy this spring taking trips but this one to Lincoln could got a long way toward helping him trim down his list. Mike Riley and company clearly have his attention so the next step will be selling him on the future of the program and his potential fit.
