2019 OL Spencer Brown soars past 20 offers

Spring Rankings Update: New Rivals100 | Big Movers in Rivals250 | New Four-Stars

Walled Lake (Mich.) Western class of 2019 offensive tackle Spencer Brown has watched his offer list soar past 20 total schools this spring, and he is not taking any of it for granted.

“It’s truly been a blessing and I couldn’t do it without my coach,” Brown said. “He is bringing (college) coaches in, talking to coaches and doing all of that.”

Among the most recent schools to offer Brown are Boston College, Virginia Tech, Missouri and Iowa.

“The first one that was kind of mind-blowing was the Miami one,” Brown said. “Michigan State, that was the first one that I couldn’t believe I got because I’d been talking about it for the longest time. But when I got Miami, that was big-time.”

Brown is not sure when he will be able to visit Miami, but he expects to attend a Michigan State camp later this month.

“I am excited about it, and just building a relationship with Coach (Mark) Staten is a big key,” Brown said. “Just to get down there and take in what he knows and coach me up like I actually went there, instead of just a regular camper.”

Brown is also planning on camping or visiting Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Tennessee and N.C. State this summer.

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound Brown started off his recruitment with schools considering him for both offensive and defensive line, but this spring he has focused solely on offensive line and expects that is where he will play in college.
