2019 Louisiana LB Jason Allen impressed with Southern Miss

Jason Allen, Jr. ()

The Latest: Southern Miss has been working to identify talent earlier in the process and recently the Eagles got a look at 2019 linebacker Jason Allen, Jr. The versatile defender comes from powerhouse Warren Easton, a program known for producing talent. Allen recently camped in Hattiesburg to audition for the USM coaches, and Rivals.com caught up with him to recap the experience.

In His Words: "I’ve been camping at a lot of different places. I think I got the best feedback from the coaches at Southern Miss. On campus, it was a pretty cool environment. It had a lot of diversity. They have a pretty big stadium and I’ve heard they have nice crowds and it’s a good place to watch a game. The coaches said they liked me. They said there's a pretty big chance I can get an offer down the line. It would mean a lot to get my first offer. I want to get back up there for a visit. They invited me to their first home game so I want to get back and see that."

Rivals Reaction: It's never too early for schools from out of state to try to get on a Louisiana prospect so it's not surprising to see the Eagles make an early move on Allen. As mentioned above, Warren Easton is loaded with talent and it would be a smart move for the school to try to build a pipeline to the program.
