2019 Florida LB Mikel Jones says Georgia was his childhood favorite

The Latest: Class of 2019 linebacker Mikel Jones already has an offer list that includes some of college football’s top programs. Because of that early interest, Jones has taken a proactive approach in looking at schools and has already taken multiple out-of-state campus visits. One of the programs he visited recently was Georgia, an experience he raved about afterwards. Rivals.com caught up with Jones at the recent Miami stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas to talk with him about the trip and where the Dawgs stand at this point in his recruitment.

In His Words: “I’m talking to Georgia a lot. I like their team. Growing up that was my favorite school so I like the campus and coaches are really nice. I went to their junior day recently and there was only about three sophomores there getting a lot of attention from the coaches and I was one of them. So I got to talk to the coaches a lot and I really felt like a priority. The new facility was pretty. It was good compared to some other places I’ve seen”

On fit in Georgia defense: “I play outside linebacker but Coach Shuman says they want me at inside linebacker and I would be able to make a lot of plays for them there. I don’t care, I can play any position. As long as they let me out there I will find a way to make plays.”

Rivals Reaction: Jones wasn’t bashful when talking about Georgia and it’s clear the visit to Athens made quite the impression on him. Obviously it’s still early in the process and several other programs are likely to join the mix, but this is a guy for Dawgs fans to keep an eye on going forward.
