2019 DL Curtis Fann Jr. is exploding with offers

Rewind a month ago and not many in the recruiting world knew who Curtis Fann Jr. was. He is a 6-foot-3, 260 pound defensive lineman out of Twin City (Ga.) Emanuel County Institute and he is a couple of months away from starting his junior year.

Fast forward to May 30. Many across the south now know about Fann Jr.. He has picked up his first eight offers over the last two weeks and it started with South Carolina on May 16. He picked up No. 8 last week when Georgia offered him on Friday.

All of this has happened before Fann Jr. expected it to.

"Every offer has been a surprise to me," said Fann Jr.. "I did not expect it to be like this and to happen this soon. I thought I would get some offers, but I did not expect my first one this spring and I did not expect all the others to come this fast after that one."

All of Fann Jr.'s offers are big to him at this time, with it being so early in the recruiting process, but the one he received Friday May 26 is pretty special.

"Georgia is the school I have dreamed of playing for. I grew up a big Georgia fan and I have gone to a lot of Georgia games as a fan, so to get that offer, it was like a dream come true.

"I love the atmosphere at Georgia, I love their fans and it is a school I have always liked. I was there for G-Day and I loved it. The coaches are cool and I am excited about the offer."

Georgia's defensive line coach Tray Scott delivered the news and Fann is planning to work with him this summer. Fann is expected in Athens (Ga.) Friday.

A school the Bulldogs play each year offered Fann Jr. first. Bryan McClendon, a former player and coach at Georgia delivered the news.

"South Carolina offered me first and it showed me a lot because they showed they believed in me before anyone else did," said Fann Jr. "Coach McClendon called my coach first, then we talked on the phone some too.

"We talked about me visiting South Carolina, how he wanted to speak with my parents, how my recruiting was about to take off and things like that. He seems like a great coach and I plan to get up there this summer."

In between the Gamecocks and the Bulldogs, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia State, LSU, N.C. State and UAB offered Fann.

Over the summer, he plans to visit Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina at this time. He hopes to visit Alabama and Auburn as well.

He could not be happier with what is happening for him right now, but this does not change his mindset or who he is.

"This is exciting and I feel great about the offers, but it does not really affect me," said Fann. "It shows my hard work is paying off and I am just going to use all of this as motivation.

"I feel like I have earned the offers, but this is all just going to push me to work even harder."

As far as leaders go, sure, Georgia is the in-state school and it was his favorite growing up, but for now, Fann sees all the schools the same way.

"I have interest in all of the schools. It is too early to have a real leader now. I am going to take my time, I am going to take some visits and we will see what happens next.

"I don't have a favorite right now."
