2019 CB Taj Dodson talks Syracuse offer, Georgia interest and more

THE LATEST: If you live in Georgia and you follow recruiting or high school football, then you are starting to hear the name Taj Dodson. He is a junior out of Fayetteville (Ga.) Our Lady of Mercy and he recently picked up his first offer.

Syracuse sent Vince Reynolds to his school just over a week ago and the Orange offered the 6-foot-2, 190 pound cornerback. They won't be the last.

Dodson is having a big season, he is starting to see more schools show interest and he is a name to know moving forward.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "The offer from Syracuse came out of nowhere," said Dodson. "My coach told me Syracuse was going to stop by the school the day it happened, but I was not expecting the offer. I was very surprised.

"When I found out I had the offer, it was a good feeling. My hard work paid off. I know that is what I have been working for.

"It was funny because I was just watching the Syracuse game against Clemson and my mother told me that I should look up that school and find out more about it. What really caught my attention when doing some research was that the first African-American Heisman trophy winner [Ernie Davis] went there. That really stood out to me.

"I am definitely going to take a strong look in Syracuse. They are the first school to take a shot at me, so they have risen up my list.

"My childhood favorite school is Georgia. My whole family is all big fans of Georgia. They have been dominating this year and they have been impressive. I would love to get an offer from them. I do not know what I would do if I got that offer.

"I am excited to have my first offer and just to be starting the recruiting process. This is what I have been working for, so I am excited about it."

RIVALS REACTION: There has been some buzz about Dodson this fall. He is a long athlete who plays cornerback and he is really starting to come into his own. This season is big for him and the first half of 2018 will be too and he hits the camp circuit and goes through spring practice with coaches now aware of him. He has attended a few camps and he was at Alabama and Georgia for games earlier this fall. This is just the beginning for Dodson and he will see his recruitment pick up in the near future. Dodson has four interceptions this season.
