CEDAR HILL, Tex. -- As things stand, Allen, TX, quarterback Grant Tisdale is one of the top contenders to finish 2019 as Texas’ top dual-threat prospect. Ahead of his appearance at last Saturday’s Prime 21 camp, Tisdale was fresh off a visit to Florida State and one to Ohio State in June.

Ohio State offered Tisdale in May, but he’s just getting the ball rolling on pulling one from FSU. Tisdale got some time on the field last season, but split duties with Mitchell Jonke at quarterback. This season will be his first as a full-time starter, but even though he has some pretty nice offers heading into the fall, he said that he’s not even thinking about making some cuts before next summer.

“I still want to keep my recruitment open,” he said. “I still haven’t played a whole season to myself so I just want to see what happens this year. It should be fun, should be interesting.”

IN HIS WORDS

Recapping his visit to FSU

“I loved every minute of it,” he said. “I got the chance to talk to Coach (Jimbo) Fisher, Coach (Dameyune) Craig down there, they told me that if I want to develop as a quarterback, this is the place to be. Coach Fisher told me that he’s put more quarterbacks in the league than anyone in college football, and that’s big.”

“The thing that stood out to me about the visit was the campus,” he said. “How small it was, how nice it looked, it really felt at home to me.”

On his visit to Ohio State

“I really enjoyed that,” he said. “Everything’s top-notch up there; from the facilities, the dorm rooms, the campus, everything up there is top-notch. I got to meet everyone on the coaching staff; Coach Urban Meyer, Coach (Ryan) Day, Coach (Kevin) Wilson, everyone was great.”

RIVALS REACTION

Saturday’s event wasn’t an easy one for the quarterbacks, especially in the morning session as they had to contend with some rain. Generally speaking, Tisdale is a calm passer that throws a nice ball - and he has a very nice cast of receivers at Allen.

He might not throw with the same sort of pop that a Deondre Francois does, but a comparison between the two could be made. The Seminoles could simply be waiting to see how things go for him as a full-time starter this fall, but that likely won’t stop other teams from moving on him much sooner.
