2018 WR Devonta Jason decommits from LSU to explore other options

Devonta Jason ()

The Latest: When Class of 2018 Louisiana wide receiver committed to LSU earlier this year, the Tigers were one of his only scholarship offers. That fact, combined with the fact that as a Louisiana native considered the Tigers his dream school, led to a very quick commitment. But as Jason continues to stack offers from other college football powers, he recently decided to back away from his commitment over the weekend. Rivals.com caught up with Jason to talk about why he committed to LSU and what his plans are going forward.

In His Words: "LSU has shown me a lot of love I just thought it was too early. They told me I fit their scheme perfect and they’re just waiting on me to come up. They said just keep doing what I’m doing and I’ll fit perfectly. I'll be back on campus for the 7-on-7. After that I'm supposed to be going to Alabama so we'll see what happens."

Rivals Reaction: Jason said he will still consider LSU but now with a litany of other options, including Tennessee, Miami and several others, expect him to take his time and a number of visits before announcing another commitment.
