Miles Battle finished his day at the Army Underclassman Combine in San Antonio feeling pretty good about his performance on the afternoon, but his day wasn’t done there.

Afterwards, he found out that Arkansas had extended an offer him. The Razorbacks were the first team to offer him since the end of October, when Indiana and Vanderbilt each sent one his way.

“Coach (Bret) Bielema followed me and I said hey, and he said 'I’m ready to offer you,'” he said. “It was pretty cool I was out at dinner after the combine. I was feeling good after that, but that just made me feel even better.”

More teams are sure to take a second look at Battle as the spring nears. He now holds 11 offers after kicking off his recruitment with one from Michigan State heading into his junior season.

Vanderbilt seems to be in a good spot with him, as he said he’s interested in what it can offer him academically in addition to having family in Tennessee.

“I was very impressed with them this season, especially after their last game against Tennessee where they showed that toughness,” he said. “I went out there for a visit around Thanksgiving and they were showing me a lot of love.”

The Hoosiers may have hit a little snag in some cases following the sudden replacement of Kevin Wilson with Tom Allen in December, but with another positive season next year, still have an opportunity to stay relevant with Battle.

“I’m thinking about it, but that’s not really on my mind that much right now,” he said of the changes at IU.

As for the combine, besides winning his share of one-on-one reps, he was happy with his work in the testing segment earlier in the day.

“It went pretty well,” he said. “My vertical jump was 36” and my broad jump was 10-4 so those were good for me.”
