2018 3-star RB Jalynn Sykes talks Tennessee, plans for spring visits

The Latest: 2016 was a year of ups and down for Class of 2018 three-star Rome, Ga. Running back Jalynn Sykes. After helping his team to terrific regular season and picking up several scholarship offers in the process, Sykes saw his year end on a down note after suffering a knee injury during his team’s run to a state championship. But after going through surgery and the early stages of rehab, Sykes said he plans to come back better than ever. Rivals.com caught up with him to get the latest on his recruiting picture and his plans for visits this spring.

In His Words: “I’ve talked to a lot of schools, Arkansas and Tennessee have been showing me the most interest and I had a lot of invitations to visit in the fall I just was busy with my season and didn’t get the chance. I plan on taking more visits soon, I’ve been talking with a lot of coaches and they want me to come up and visit in the spring.”

On Tennessee: “My older brother, Rae Sykes, played there so that’s something I think about, following in his footsteps. They run two running backs and it’s similar to us and what we do so I think I would be a good fit there. I went to Orange Carpet Day in the summer and I visited for the Alabama game and the Ohio game.”

On injury recovery: “Everything is going good. I’m recovering from surgery and I’m ready to get back on the field. I started therapy already and I’m going to come back bigger, faster, stronger. I’m facing adversity right now but I’ll get over all my obstacles.”

Rivals Reaction: It’s always tough to see a player go down with an injury, especially at such a crucial point in their recruitment. But Sykes is already on the road to recovery and will likely have a chance to earn his way onto a Power Five school before it’s all said and done.
