Class of 2017 Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer athlete Jamyest Williams just finished his freshman football season a few months ago, but plenty of schools are proving it's never too early to make a push.
Williams, who could play any number of positions at the next level, already has offers from Georgia Tech and Charlotte, but said he's taking the process slow.
"It's kind of exciting, but I'm trying to not to buy into all the hype," the 5-foot-9, 165-pound speedster said. "I just try to enjoy each thing and I still have a long way to go so I just try to enjoy it."
Other schools showing interest in Williams include Georgia and Vanderbilt. Williams said he has a special connection to the Georgia program because he considers Athens his hometown.
"That's really where I'm from," Williams said. "I'm talking to coach (Bryan) McClendon, but since they have a new defensive backs coach and a new defensive coordinator I haven't talked to them as much, but I know they're still interested."
Williams said he's planning a couple of visits in the coming months, with both Charlotte and Georgia Tech on his schedule.
