2016 R100 TE Upshur trims list

Recently 2016 Rivals100 tight end Naseir Upshur announced that he had made cuts to his extensive offer sheet. The Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Charter stand out named 15 schools that he is still considering.
"I have been to Michigan State, South Carolina, Arizona State, Rutgers, Alabama, Maryland, Penn State and Temple," said the 6-foot-2, 223-pound Upshur. "I want to visit Ohio State and Florida really soon."

In addition to those ten schools, Upshur is still looking at Miami, Auburn, Florida State, West Virginia and North Carolina.
"I'm really close with everybody at the Temple coaching staff," he said. "I'm very close with Ohio State also Michigan State, Miami, South Carolina, Maryland and a lot of other ones too. I talk to these coaches the most though.
Upshur has connections to a number of different schools but he has former teammates at Arizona State (DeAndre Scott) and South Carolina (David Williams) and one current teammate committed to Maryland (D.J. Moore).
One school that has jumped out to people is the Florida Gators. Some are wondering how they made his cut with a brand new head coach in Jim McElwian.
"With Florida just getting a new coach that doesn't really faze me," he said. "They have to do what they have to do. It will probably put them in a better situation so I'm not too worried about right now."
Two major programs could jump into the mix if they extend an offer.
"I definitely want Notre Dame and USC offers," Upshur said. "I need to talk to those coaches before they make my top schools."
Upshur, who is visiting UCF this weekend, had 19 catches this year for 550 yards and scored 12 total touchdowns.
