2016 Fla. 3-star ATH eyeing West Virginia

Over the past decade, West Virginia has done an excellent job of identifying talent in the state of Florida and recruiting it to Morgantown. Class of 2016 three-star Miami (Fla.) Champagnat Catholic wide receiver/defensive back Jotavius Barrett is hoping he can follow in the footsteps of other Sunshine State stars who helped blaze a trail north.
"We love West Virginia down in Miami," said Barrett, who recently visit Morgantown. "They recruit a lot of guys from our area. They're on my trail, they're hot on me. They've been liking me ever since they saw me during the spring they just want to see some more film on me. They said next time that they come and see me, now that I've camped, they might offer."

Growing up, Barrett said he watched stars from Florida flourish with Mountaineers and that's when he started to gain an affinity for the program.
"As a kid coming there was something about West Virginia that I always liked," he said. "I like Tavon Austin but my favorite player was Stedman Bailey. He didn't get as much of the attention as Austin but he was just as explosive. He was a guy who did it."
Barrett has also gained attention for his exploits as a defensive back but said he's hoping his future is on offense.
"Right now I'm focusing on being a slot receiver," he said. "But I'll still be playing corner during the season so we'll see what happens."
