2016 DT Jordan picks up VT offer

In the 2014 recruiting class Virginia Tech got a commitment from Baltimore (Md.) Gilman Rivals250 linebacker Melvin Keihn. Now the Hokies are after 2016 Gilman defensive tackle Ellison Jordan.
"First my coach told me to call coach Moorehead," said the 6-foot-2, 250-pound Jordan. "He told me he really liked my work ethic and me. Coach Wiles was also really impressed. It's really a blessing."

Other than Keihn, Jordan has a few more connections to Blacksburg.
"My good friends Melvin Keihn and Ashton White are committed to Virginia Tech," he said. "I played with Ashton since youth football. I have family in Hampton. I know Virginia Tech is in the mountains but I've never visited."
Jordan has heard about Virginia Tech's engineering program.
"Melvin told me about how he wants to go into mechanical engineering," Jordan said. "My dad is also a mechanical engineer and they've both told me Virginia Tech is a good school for engineering."
Jordan's recruitment took a little longer to get started than he would have liked but now he is well on his way.
"I'm really happy about where I am right now," he said. "At first I was wondering when some offers were going to start coming. My coaches always told me to just keep doing well and they will come. Hard work pays off so I'm really blessed."
Michigan State and Charlotte have already offer Jordan and more are on the way.
"Michigan State is a really good team," said Jordan. "They won the Rose Bowl and they beat Stanford and Ohio State. They had probably the best defense in the country.
"I haven't heard too much from Charlotte," he said. "I have some family in that area so maybe I'll get a chance to go see the school. I'm hearing from Maryland, Florida State, Penn State and Alabama a little bit."
Jordan was going to visit West Virginia on Saturday but will visit Maryland instead.
