After an outstanding sophomore season, Ellison Jordan's recruitment is starting to heat up. The defensive tackle from Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School picked up an offer from Michigan State the other day, his first.

"I don't really know much about them," the 6-foot-2, 250-pound Jordan said. "They are a really good football team. They play at a high level and won the Rose Bowl. They beat Stanford and Ohio State. They played lights out of defense and I didn't know they could do that."
There are a few other schools Jordan has visited and is interested in.
"I went to Penn State when they played Nebraska," he said. "I went to South Carolina for the Clemson game and I talked to them a little bit after the game. I have heard from Virginia Tech, Maryland and North Carolina."
Staying relatively close to home sounds like a must for Jordan.
"I don't want to go so far away," Jordan said. "I'm still keeping my options open to schools like South Carolina and Michigan State that are further away. Maryland is also one of my top schools."
Jordan grew up a fan of some local and national powerhouses.
"When I first started playing football in the fourth grade that's when I started learning about Maryland and Virginia Tech," he said. "Later on I started to learn about the SEC and Alabama and South Carolina."
Jordan has gone to camps at Virginia and Maryland.
