2016 DE watches UCLA twice

Breland Brandt is just getting started with the recruiting process but he recently stopped twice at UCLA spring practice, a sign the Bruins will be seriously considered as things heat up even more.
The 2016 defensive end from Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward was complimentary of the coaching staff and the players - he loved all their work ethics - but said it's still way too early to consider any frontrunners.

At this point, Brandt, who shined at the recent RCS Southern California, said he's just stopping by the local schools to observe and to start building relationships with the coaching staffs.
"I'm really enjoying watching the guys get after it," Brandt said. "I'm learning a lot from coach (Mike Tuiasosopo), the outside linebackers coach. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can so I can take it into the season.
"They like me as an outside linebacker or a defensive end hybrid player. They want me to drop back in coverage but also rush the passer."
So far, the 2016 prospect has landed offers from Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, San Diego State, UCLA, USC and Utah.
He said stopping by the UCLA practices - he's also been to USC - has been very valuable to get an early read on what coach Jim Mora expects from his players.
"I like them a lot," Brandt said. "I love how they get after it. I love how hard all the players work. It's a lot of fun to watch.
"They're coming after me. I think they also understand it's still very early for me and I don't plan on making any decisions so they don't try to pressure me too much which is great. I just enjoy watching it and I'm trying to learn as much as I can so I can take it into my junior season."
